Dr. Dennis “Ausar” Winkler, Jr., affectionately known as Dr. DAW, is a celebrated psychotherapist, educator, entrepreneur, and community advocate, born on January 22, 1979, in Baltimore, MD. Alongside his wife, Camele Winkler, and their two sons, Dennis III and Jamil, Dr. Winkler has dedicated his life to uplifting individuals, families, and communities, particularly within the Black community.

Dr. Winkler’s educational journey reflects his commitment to addressing systemic challenges and personal growth. He graduated magna cum laude from Sojourner-Douglass College with a B.A. in Administration and later earned an M.S. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Loyola University in Maryland, specializing in Spirituality and Psychology. He completed his Ph.D. in Counseling Education and Supervision at Waynesburg University, with his dissertation focusing on “Measuring the Relationship of Race-Based Trauma, Racial Identity, and Spirituality.”

As a co-founder of the Brothers Helping Brothers program, Dr. Winkler has played an instrumental role in creating a space where men can find support, accountability, and pathways to personal and communal growth. Brothers Helping Brothers serves as a transformative initiative, emphasizing emotional wellness, mentorship, and cultural identity. Through this program, Dr. Winkler and his team guide men in overcoming life’s challenges, deconstructing harmful stereotypes, and building meaningful, purpose-driven lives.

Dr. Winkler’s broader contributions to community wellness are seen in his role as the founder of the TNAT Holistic Wellness Center, co-founder of the Diasporan Soul Jamaican and American Fusion Restaurant, and a part-time educator in the Department of Counseling & Psychological Studies at Bowie State University, where he teaches multicultural counseling.
